The Contributions Of The Donor
The parts taken from the donor will vary somewhat depending on your choice of cars. For the purpose of this page I will list all that I have used from my 2nd generation RX-7. Even at that, this is intended as a guide, to give you a bit of an idea.
Complete motor and trans assembly- pulled together and left together through the build.
Driveshaft and U joints- just shortened
Complete front spindles- wheel bearing, lower ball joint, etc
Steering column and shaft
Complete wiring harnesses front to back- unplugged only, no cuts. I did open the rear looms and took out the unneeded wires. I was able to reduce down by 2/3.
Full instrumentation with all warning lights
All switches and controls- I even left the cruise control operational!
Battery and cables
Complete emission control system to conform with our pollution tests- including the Cat converters- ugly but necessary
Wheels and tires- including spare
Complete braking systems- front/rear, including lines and the master cylinder
Clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder
E-brake assembly and cables
Pedal box and pedals- really nice aluminum setup in this car
Gas pedal and cable
Ignition, keys etc.
Sound insulation and carpet
Fuel pump and sending unit
Fuel filler neck and cap
Storage bins made into trunk compartments
